Get your wheels ready, Bike to Work Day hits Pittsburgh on May 19.

And hosts and sponsors of the event are offering a litany of perks to encourage as many cyclists to commute to work as possible.

The nonprofit advocacy group Bike Pittsburgh and other sponsors are hosting four pop-up café stands — two during the morning rush, and two during the evening rush — located across the city, where cyclists can sample some free coffee, snacks, and receive other items like water bottles, stickers, and coupons to local bike shops.

“We invite you to enjoy some outdoor time, reduce traffic congestion, and improve our air quality on Bike to Work Day! Whether you ride for work, fun, fitness, or everyday life, all are welcome to join us in celebrating the joy of cycling,” sais Bike Pittsburgh event director Kéya Joseph.

Pittsburgh’s bike share network, POGOH, will be offering free, unlimited 30 minute trips on May 19.

Bike to Work Day is part of National Bike Month and promotes cycling as a means of transportation to work, school, everyday errands, enjoying the outdoors, and for fitness and recreation.

Morning café stands will run from 7-10 a.m. at Penn Avenue and 10th Street Downtown and Forbes Avenue and Schenley Drive Extension in Oakland.

Evening cafe stands will run from 4-7 p.m. at Sly Fox Brewery at the Highline in South Side and Spirit in Lawrenceville.
